Guru En Aalu - Madhavan

Madhavan had a tremendous opening to the cinema world with Mani Ratnam's 'Alaipayuthe'. Many super hits followed and he had become an actor with star value. But then off late, his recent films have not done so very well and the actor is pining big on the soon to be released 'Guru En Aalu' which is the remake of the Hindi film 'Yes Boss'.

Madhavan had recently said that with the advent of many acting schools, it is easy to become an actor. But then when one gets to become a star, it is really tough to maintain the status. 'There is no school to teach one that' said the actor.

Madhavan also declared that he is currently working in more Hindi films than in Tamil. 'I love to act in Tamil films, but then Hindi filmmakers make movies that delve into a variety of themes as against Tamil filmmakers. I am a person who would not like to have many similarities among my films. The more diverse the better.

When asked if he spends more time in Mumbai than in Chennai these days, the actor quipped, 'I spend more time in airports'.

Bharath in Seval

‘Pazhani’, actor Bharath has managed to reach the masses in the B and C Centers in Kollywood. Now he is pinning all his hopes on ‘Seval’, which is nearing completion.

Interestingly, the movie directed by Hari is touted to be a racy commercial entertainer. “It has interesting storyline withy action and humor loaded in right mix”, says Bharath.

“Also my role in ‘Arumugham’ has been written well by director Suresh Krissna. It is a down-to-earthy role. I play a youth running an idly shop on roadside. I play the role of a boy-next-door in it”.

He is happy that he is flooded with offers that are commercial pot-boilers. “I am a typical cinema fan who loves action and comedy. Thankfully my movies are reaching them. ‘Seval’ and ‘Arumugham’ would be movies targeted at them”, he adds.

On sporting a different look in ‘Nepali’, Bharath says, “the script demanded me to try something different. It can't be tried out in every film.”

Naan kadavul Arya

After the release of Vishnuvardhan's Pattiyal, Arya was touted as one of the fastest rising young guns in Kollywood in 2006. The boy with no film connections had become red hot and commanded an opening. But somewhere along the way his carefully laid out plans went awry for no fault of his.

Arya's last release was Vattaram for Diwali 2006 which bombed miserably, and his Auto due for Pongal 2007 could not release due to the producers financial problems. And he could not sign any new film as he had signed Bala's Naan Kadavul, which is still in the making!

Meanwhile Auto stuck in the cans for more than a year, underwent a name change to get entertainment tax benefits and became Oram Po. Like the title indicates, Arya had to make way as other heroes took over and soon he was only in the news for Bala's Naan Kadavul shooting stories.

Today (Nov 30) finally Oram Po is releasing all over Tamilnadu, and Arya is feeling the pressure sitting on the location of his never-ending Naan Kadavul shoot in Theni! Says the optimistic actor who has a great sense of humour: “It is a fun film which will keep you entertained for 2 hours. The characters and story is sure to appeal to everyone. I am keeping my fingers crossed to hear reports from friends and fans.”

Ajith in Kamal’s movie?

Ajith’s Aegan is gearing up for Deepavali release before which the actor is bombarded with projects. He has already committed Gautam Menon’s next movie which is slated to go on floors in December 2008. The director is now busy with the post production works of Vaaranam Aayiram and the last leg shooting of the Trisha starrer Chennayil Oru Mazhaikaalam.
We also hear wind of the news that AVM Productions are in discussions with Ajith for an untitled venture. Sources have it that the movie is likely to be a remake of the cult hit Sagalakalavallavan with Ajith playing the lead. Same sources aver that Jananathan would direct the movie.

However, given Jananathan’s previous credentials – a filmmaker who makes original themes - we doubt if he would be ready to take up a remake in hand. However, nothing has been confirmed from Ajith side. More updates awaited.

Endhiran the Robot Aishwarya Rai

The Kollywood grapevine says that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been paid Rs. 6 crores for her role in Endhiran (also spelt as Endhiram). If that is true, she becomes India’s highest paid actress.

But it is to be noted that Aishwarya Rai agreed to work in Endhiran out of the respect she has for Rajni. Forced by busy schedules to turn down a role opposite Rajni thrice before, Aishwarya deemed it would be unrespectable and inappropriate to deny the stalwart’s offer anymore. That is the main reason she signed Endhiran even after her call sheet overflowed with dates allocated to Mani Ratnam’s bilingual. Thus it is of little surprise that the producers of Endhiran, Ayngaran International and Eros International, are willing to pay the actress such a hefty price. Happy with Aishwarya’s commitment, director Shankar even decided to give her a break when Mani Ratnam’s film shoot starts.

At present, a song is being filmed on Aishwarya Rai and Rajinikanth for Endhiran in Machu Picchu, an ancient temple site erected by Inca Indians in Peru. It is also said that this song will be a highlight of this film.

Meanwhile, the public’s curiosity is stoked up by the promos of Endhiran. Most of the walls in the city are covered byposters depicting a robot modelled after the superstar. Everyone is thrilled to see this metallic version of their beloved star.

Kamal is Marmayogi shreya

Kamal’s craze for Mallika Shrewat is well known. It seems he is bored with that female who paired with him in the movie Dasavatharam. Now Kamal is getting ready to dance with Rajini and Vadivelu’s favourite Shreya.

Undisclosed sources say disclose that Shreya is being negotiated to act with Kamal. While Trisha will be the girl of the movie, it is Shreya to do the item role.

Kamal’s Marma Yogi will be filmed by teams working for Hollywood and Kamal is aiming to make the movie equivalent or better than that of Hollywood’s!

Kamal will be announcing about his team for the movie by October 19 and that will be the official news, until then you can just enjoy reading gossips about the same!

Shreya in Marmayogi?

Kollywood grapevine is very sure that Trisha and Shreya will star as heroines in Marmayogi, the 100-crore project of Kamal Haasan and Pyramid Saimira. Earlier, it was rumoured that Kajol and Padmapriya would act alongside Kamal Haasan. Well, if this news turns out true it will be a treat to watch the two most famous ladies of Kollywood together in a film for first time.

But one thing is for sure – Marmayogi will feature Hema Malini, the dream girl of Bollywood in the 70s and 80s. Marmayogi is believed to be a period film, whose story and script have been written by Kamal Haasan; and whenever he has done that, he has produced a masterpiece; for example, Thevar Magan, Nala Damayanthi, Anbe Sivam, Hey Ram, Virumandi, Dasavathaaram, etc.

Endhiran Rajini dual role?

Endhiran news has started pouring out and first of its series is about Rajini and his role in the movie.

Rajini will be doing a dual role, one will be wearing the stylish dress and doing all his regular styles. The other will be Robo Rajini and that too will do a lots of style and entertain his fans.

The Robo Rajini will also do lots of stunts and other tricks and hence it will be performed by dupes!

Sarithiram Movie

Director Samy’s forthcoming venture Sarithiram’s sets have turned into a picnic spot of sorts for many. Samy had wanted a palatial bungalow situated in the midst of serenity. Close to this bungalow, he had also wanted a sports arena where the main character would teach Silambam to the youth. However, the efforts of the crew to find such a place proved futile and it was decided to create the sets.
Consequently, Pollachi, the famous shooting spot was chosen and the sets were constructed. Along with the bungalow and sports arena, a few houses, and a lotus pond has also been created by art director Virasamar. Sarithiram stars Raj Kiran, Aadhi, Kalabhavan Mani and Sri Devika.

Vivek comedy

Vivek has a cluster of movies on hand all portraying him as a comedian. The man of satire is all set to donning the grease paint, this time as a hero. Vivek would be playing the lead role in a movie proposed to be directed by Simbhudevan of 'Imsai Arasan' fame.

Speaking about his abrupt change of roles Vivek said, 'It is not a quick decision as it seems. I have been getting proposals to play the lead from a long time but I rebuffed those offers. I wanted to work in a storyline that has scope for me. After I made sure of the script, I decided to take the plunge'.

'An official announcement will be made to the public soon. At this point of time, all I can say is that the film has me and a herd of horses in pivotal roles.'

About his forthcoming flicks, Vivek says, ' I enact as a female in 'Guru En Aalu', for the first time. Everyone on the set, including Madhavan was stunned by my looks and commented that I look comely in the costume. In 'Vaa da' I am set to play the owner of a travels company at Rishikesh. My getup in the film resembles that of the legendary comedian Chandrababu.'

'I am a great fan of veteran artistes N S Krishnan and M R Radha. They had great social awareness and were never afraid to raise their voices against vices in society. Comedy was never a scarcity in Kollywood. Comedians of great calibre have emerged from this land.' The slapstick comedian said on a conluding phase.

The civilians of the surrounding villages stormed to see the actor, after the news of their camping reached.

Simbu remixes in Rajini film

It sure is the decade of remixes in Kollywood. Scores of yesteryear popular chartbusters are being remixed these days. Joining the long list is 'Vachukava Unnai Mattum' a very popular song from Rajinikanth's hit film 'Nallavanukku Nallavan'.

Music composer Dhina has remixed the song for Silambarasan's 'Silambattam'. Moreover, the actor has crooned the song himself. This being a peppy number, it was shot featuring a large number of dancers recently.

The film in which she will act opposite the 'Paruthiveeran hero' will be directed by Lingusamy. The project is expected to go to the floors in October.

Meanwhile, the Surya-Nayantara venture, which is to be directed by K S Ravikumar, will start once the director completes 'Jaggubhai' and the actor completes 'Ayan'.

'Marma Yogi', a mega-budget project set in the sixth century A.D. will bring Kamal Haasan and A. R. Rahman together after a gap of almost eight years. The last time Rahman scored music for a Kamal film was Thenali.

'It is very early to comment on the film but what I can say now is that I will do a bit of research, since this is a period film,' he says.

And how about working in an animation film – Sultan, The Warrior? 'It is exciting, no doubt. It offers endless scope,' he puts it succinctly. Directed by Soundarya, daughter of Rajinikanth, the 3-D animation flick will feature the superstar as a mythological, larger than life hero. The multi-lingual film is being made in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Rahman has no intentions on working only for big banners. 'I would work in ventures where the focus is concentrated on music. That was the case with 'Sakkarakatti'. I am pleased the songs have gone down well with the audience'.
